]]>The article deals with a visiting study at the Tampere Unversity Library, Finland. The structure of the university is described, in particular with respect to the integration of the library and its parts. Special attention is given to acqusitions and the policy of acquisition, to the library management and marketing, education in informatics, electronic information sources and the digital repository. The conclusion compares the Czech and the Finnish university libraries, highlighting the inspiration that can be drawn from the Finnish example.
